In the summer of 2010, I launched the Great Getaways With Cheryl travel show on AM 650/CISL with the fabulous Stu Ferguson. CKNW/AM980, British Columbia's #1 radio station at the time came knocking a year later, inviting me to bring my show to the station which was then still dominating the airwaves in Vancouver for over 47 years.  Being associated with the station's iconic BC broadcasters like Bill Good, Philip Till, Simi Sara and John McComb was a very special experience.

Reaching over 8,000 listeners per minute throughout British Columbia every Saturday at 6pm, Great Getaways With Cheryl became the venue to hear about the best of travel getaways across Canada, the US, Mexico and Europe, to Australia, New Zealand and everywhere in between, including contests, promotions, steals and deals presented each week with show partners, Sears Travel of British Columbia, WestJet Vacations and Transat Holidays to name but a few.  And to produce each week's show, 52 weeks a year either in the studio or on location (LOVE my annual Christmas at Disneyland Resort with the sensational Angela Saclamacis/PR Maven and her team), with the support of Greg Schott and the engineering team at 'NW has been an experience worth a chapter or two in my book...if I ever get around to writing it!

Bringing you engaging and entertaining travel stories you wouldn't hear anywhere else, I shared my passion and enthusiam for both the industry of travel (I've spent 25 years as a hospitality executive), and my ability to engage an audience with fun, authentic reviews of places, people and adventure. With my colleagues, I worked to bring together guests from the most sought out destinations, delivering interviews with travel’s most learned and passionate voices in hospitality, food and wine, to music and entertainment. Great Getaways with Cheryl grew to become the place for unique travel experiences, near and far.

In the winter of 2013, it was with a heavy heart that I decided to take a leave from the airwaves. Having spent the past six months reviewing the best of the best interviews, and determining what it is that I really enjoy sharing, there are nothing but sunny days ahead.  Stay tuned for what's in store...we're back and delivering more than ever imagined beginning this fall, 2014!
